ABOUT US

The Program Management Academy (PMA) was established to help companies, organizations, and individuals understand and effectively utilize the principles of program management to improve their business results.

With over 40 years of combined experience in multiple industries, Russ Martinelli and Jim Waddell are recognized as experts in modern program management. They are co-authors of “Program Management for Improved Business Results”, have published multiple articles and papers on program management, and have been featured presenters at national and international conferences.

Russ Martinelli is co-founder of the PMA, and a recognized expert in the field of program management. He is the Manager of Program Management Methodologies within the Corporate Platform Office at Intel Corporation, where he focuses on the definition and implementation of program management best practices across Intel.  Additionally, Russ is the chairman of Intel’s global Program Management Community of Practice, and an adjunct professor for Graduate Business Management at the University of Phoenix.

Russ has held a variety of positions at Intel and Lockheed Martin in the areas of systems engineering, general management, operations management, and project and program management.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Masters Degree in Business Management, and an Engineering Management certification.

James Waddell photoJim Waddell is currently an independent consultant in his fields of expertise of program management and mergers and acquisitions. Jim has held a wide spectrum of managerial and operational roles ranging across engineering, marketing, systems and manufacturing in the high tech and energy industries. He is the former Director of Program Management for Tektronix Inc., where he spent several years involved in global new product development and established and led the first worldwide Program Management Office (PMO) for Tektronix.

Jim has an undergraduate degree in Business Management and an MBA from the University of Southern California. He has taught classes at several  universities on the West coast and is currently an adjunct professor at OHSU’s Oregon Graduate Institute. Jim was one of the founders of the Program Management Forum in Portland, Oregon, and is co-founder of the Program Management Academy.
